FISHBOWL FEST 2027 | August 2026 Newsletter

Hi everyone! Goldfish here!
Thank you for opening this month’s Newsletter! Hope your summer has been kind to you all! It’s definitely been a doozy hasn’t it? I went to view the Perseid meteor shower and the amount of smoke even at a high elevation was definitely unfavorable but it’s nice to see that it has finally cleared up in our area. Despite it all, I’m gaining a larger appreciation for the different shades of green that come through as the sun makes its short visit here in the PNW. Anywho, here are this month’s updates:
Be a Sponsor for Fishbowl Fest!
Fishbowl Fest is looking to partner with businesses in Federal Way. Sponsor packets are being printed and will be distributed soon! For this event, we will not be using AI and every flyer, poster and design will be made by either myself or another artist which means making any printed material takes a little more time. But this is what we have so far...

If you’d like to know more info, I'll be creating a dedicated space for more sponsorship information on the website at runawaygoldfish.com/fishbowlfestsponsor. The page is not quite ready yet but should be in the next week or two. Please check back periodically or visit the event Instagram @fishbowl.fest for updates. If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a sponsor, feel free to email us at runawaygoldfishbowl@gmail.com.
Cultivating Community : Let's Thrift Together!
Coffee and Thrift Mini-Meetup
Sunday, September 13th from 10AM - 2PM
Itinerary:
10 AM - Meeting @ Onit Cafe in Federal Way, WA
11AM (Approx) - Goodwill (Federal Way)
12PM (Approx) - Found It! Thrift Store (Federal Way)
1PM - Lunch at Common's Mall (Subject to change)
Naturally, since the announcement, traffic on social media has slowed down but that doesn’t mean the work has. I’ve been busy designing, organizing and networking to make sure our event is not just amazing but thoughtful as well. I want to make the conscious effort to learn from other local organizers and community leaders who are doing something similar so I can bring those concepts into our event.
In the process, I’ve been asking myself some pretty big questions about what “community” looks like and the relationships people have around the word. In general, I think many of us can relate that the concept of community can harness a lot of jadedness and even hurt. It's important for me to facilitate a space where people have an opportunity to gather and connect. So leading up to the event, I want to host mini meetups that are low-stakes, support local businesses, help build confidence and familiarity all while still harboring that connection.
With that said, not only will I be participating/volunteering in as many events as possible, I’ll also be hosting my first mini meetup Sunday, September 13th from 10AM to 2PM. This will be a 4 hour, local thrift adventure that you can enter and leave at any point. We will begin by meeting at a local coffee shop, hit a few local thrift shops, then at the end we will stop for lunch to talk about some of the things we found (maybe do a little show and tell). Together, we can shop/browse and be inspired while building memories around found pieces. For more info, I'll be posting details on the Fishbowl Fest Instagram.
Missed the early bird window? No worries! We will be releasing multiple opportunities for discounted tickets leading up to the event.
Tickets are now available!
Just as a reminder,
vendor applications open in October.
So far, we are still on time for applications to open in October and will close in December with a more specific date coming soon. We hope this will give you ample time to plan out products, photos, and inventory. Upon acceptance of the application, participants must have payment completed by December 31st. Floor plan details are still in the works so that we can better calculate the cost of each table but at this moment, we are estimating about around $80 for a six foot space. Like I've stated in the previous newsletter, ideally I’d like to include as many artists as possible without compromising accessibility in the walk ways so please be patient with us as we continue to discuss logistics.
Thanks for swimming thru! Stay tuned for the September 2026 Newletter!
