Runaway Goldfish
storytelling through art
About the Artist
Welcome everyone! I’m Runaway Goldfish (They/Them), a self-taught, Filipino, multi-media artist obsessed with an aquatic aesthetic and the creative director of the animated short, "G's Way or the Freeway" and the G Universe (now available on Youtube).

WHAT I'VE DONE
Throughout my career, I’ve designed a variety of my own products and have been commissioned to do a diverse selection of graphic work including logos, posters, stickers, apparel, signage, window paintings and book covers. I’ve also illustrated two children’s books, my own comic book, a series of bonsai paintings extracting color from Pu Erh tea, and a manga inspired comic (which is currently in the works).

Art for Community
Outside of creating, I’ve taught art and animation for Phenomenal She, volunteered for community events and murals, and participated in markets and gallery shows from Vancouver, Canada to Portland. And just for fun, since 2019, I've built different themed home haunts for the neighborhood trick 'r treaters.

Inspiration
Growing up as a geek, I was heavily influenced by the worlds of comics, video games, film, street art and folklore. As a resident of the greater Seattle area, my passion for aquatic aesthetics comes from my love for our environment.

Education
My roots began as a self-taught artist but as I've progressed through the years, I've come to learn to never be too good for information. I'm grateful to have had many mentors in a variety of different art forms Ranging from bonsai, Sumi-E ink, tattooing, traditional art and animation. This has left me with an unconventional yet unique art education AND PERSPECTIVE.

Fun Fact
In fifth grade, we had to write an article about what we would like to be when we grow up and I gave myself three options: I'd first be an Olympic Tae Kwon Do champion, an Olympic snowboarder and if both of those didn't work out, I'd become a comic book artist.
